The Posthumous Investigation is an unusual adaptation of the works of novelist Machado de Assis. In this game, some of his most acclaimed work – mainly the recently localized literary classic “Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas” – is being mixed and reshaped into an unexpected murder mystery.

Machado de Assis was a Brazilian writer who lived from 1839 to 1908, and many consider him one of the greatest writers of Brazilian literature. As one of the pioneers of Realism in Latin America, he wrote novels, short stories, poems, plays, essays and chronicles with a unique style that combined irony, humor, social criticism and literary references. The game was made with the support of a grant from ANCINE, the National Cinema Agency of Brazil. This grant is a recognition of the quality and originality of our work, and also an opportunity to promote our culture and art to the world.
