- Accompanying exhibition of BAME artists working in games
A brand new part of the London Games Festival will offer summits looking at hot-button issues facing games, an exhibition of BAME talent and plus demo and workshop space.
The LGF HUB (www.games.london/lgf-hub-2018/) opens in Bloomsbury on Monday 9 April and Tuesday 10 April and will offer a centrally located events and meeting place for festival attendees.
HUB will house the festival’s agenda-setting summits plus networking space and more all under one roof.
HUB is divided into four areas:
Summits & Forums
London Games Festival is programming a number of summits and shorter forums for 2018 that explore how games are blending with the toy sector, plus emerging trends in AI and blockchain. We’re busy finalising the full speaker line-ups to be named in the coming weeks. Pitches and speaker suggestions are welcome provided they fit to our themes and agenda. The HUB auditorium will also host three headline keynotes on the morning of Monday, 9 April.
Classrooms at the HUB will offer a mix of free and paid-for workshops, including explorations of games design plus a chance for indies and start-ups to refine their games knowledge of games funding and pitching skills.
The Demo Zone is a showcase for startups, prototype games and service firms – plus a meeting place for visiting international pavilions and funders. Meet the creators behind the games of tomorrow ready to showcase their ideas and innovations. This is also the perfect place to test or debut new/early games before they head to bigger shows and other festivals. Spaces are available at startup-friendly rates.
The venue will also house exhibitions in its striking gallery spaces. This includes Games London’s upcoming exhibition focusing on BAME artists in games, which will be on show at the HUB and other LGF events before touring UK games clusters. Also on show will be art and creations from games-inspired artists and festival partners.
And alongside all that is a free to access and open café and networking area that means the HUB will be a centre of activity for the games industry over the first two days of the core London Games Festival week.
