$10m investment for Bossa after Games London trip to Helsinki

A Games London delegation to Slush in Helsinki last December has resulted in a $10 million investment for London games studio Bossa.

The $10m Series A round is led by Atomico with participation from existing investor London Venture Partners.

Bossa Studios met Atomico as part of the 2016 Games London outbound mission to Slush, which visited the major tech startup event at the end of last year. The trade mission took nine companies out to Helsinki so they could attend this key European tech and investment event.

The Atomico and LVP deal for Bossa will give it financing to recruit talent from around the world, support its strategic focus on AI and user generated content driven games, and support the studio as it gears up for the launch of World’s Adrift, the first ever title to be built on London startup Improbable’s SpatialOS platform.

Henrique Olifiers, co-founder and CEO of Bossa said: “Since first being introduced at Slush thanks to the Games London team, we’ve brought together the dream pair of partners who share our vision for the future: Atomico, Europe’s largest venture fund with operational excellence at their core and LVP, our original investors and advisors.

“Together we’re able to accelerate Bossa’s strategy of creating a new breed of multiplayer games based on crowdsourced content, AI-directed procedural generation, and an open development ethos bringing the community into the fabric of everything we do.

“There has never been a more exciting time to create games thanks to emerging technologies and platforms, and Bossa intends to be at the very heart of the action, creating popular titles that will capture players’ imaginations for years to come.”

Games London will return to Slush this year with a new delegation of London studios looking to raise financing and meet with investors. More details will be announced very soon.
